- Similar to the students\’ protests at DU, students have now started to protest outside the Jamia Millia Islamia demanding the reopening of the varsity. The Vice-Chancellor of JMI stated that the university will be reopened in a phased manner starting with the dental department as practical classes and exams cannot be held online in this stream.
- The Vice-Chancellor added that they have no intention to keep the university closed but the teachers are not ready to take the students in a bunch. Students are also not ready to attend offline classes as of now and thus, the reopening of the university will be gradually planned.
- Students will be given 10 days to prepare their return and students who are returning are required to be fully vaccinated. As the university hostels have been unused for two years, the hostels require being cleaned. Hostel accommodation will not be given to all and only one student will be allowed in each room to avoid infection.
- Also, all the classes will not open at the same time. When asked about the protests, the Vice-Chancellor stated that the protesting students may not be from Jamia as the students are taking online exams. The protests were organized by student organizations like AIRSO, SIO, AISA, etc.
