Uncertainty in Boards, 100 Percentile in CUET Gives Hope

Akansha, despite getting 96% marks in class 12 boards, was worried if she would get a seat in her dream college.

Akansha Sherawat scored 96.5 per cent in the CBSE Class 12 Board Examinations. She stated that she was doubtful about getting a seat. However, after scoring a 100 percentile in CUET, she has gained some hope. She scored 100 percentile in three subjects namely, history, political science and English. Moreover, she scored 98.4 percentile in Geography.

Now, Akanksha plans to get admission to Miranda House, St. Stephen’s or Lady Shri Ram College to pursue BA in Political Science.

PREPARATION STRATEGY

The board and CUET have different exam patterns despite the similar syllabus. CUET is a concept-based exam while Board Exams are subjective. Akansha relied heavily on the NCERT syllabus for both exams and started her preparations only after the board examinations.

She had dedicated 8 hours of self-study every day with two hours to each subject. She had classes on Adda247 every day for two hours. The half hour MCQ session conducted during the classes helped her a lot. Moreover, the CUET sample papers helped her in the preparation. The sample papers provided an understanding of the difficulty level and the question types that would be asked in the exam. The candidate stated that her parents were supportive on her preparations.

IAS DREAM

However, Akansha aims to become an IAS officer. She was inspired by her neighbour who became an IRS officer to prepare for civil services. She had also developed the interest of entering into civil services from her Grandfather.
