- The Top rankings in the Atal Rankings of institutions on Innovation and Achievements 2021 were bagged by three higher education institutions from Pune.
- Savitribai Phule Pune University bagged the 8th position in the state-funded university category, College of Engineering Pune bagged the first position in the government colleges category and Symbiosis International University bagged the 10th position in the deemed university category.
- The rankings are awarded on the basis of the contributions of the institutions to promote startups, entrepreneurship, the establishment of incubation centres, courses offered on innovation, patents filed, granted and commercialized, etc.
- Over 1430 higher education institutions participated in ARIIA 2021 across seven categories. The growing participation of higher education institutions was a sign of interest and seriousness towards innovation and entrepreneurship.
- ARIIA will inspire and will prepare the institutions to break into major international rankings. The top 3 institutes under centrally funded institutes are IIT Madras, IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi. The top 3 institutes under state-funded universities were Punjab University, Delhi Technical University and Netaji Subash University of Technology.
- The top 3 institutes under government technical institutes were PSG College of Technology, Tamil Nadu, LD College of Engineering, Gujarat and Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Tamil Nadu. The top 3 self-financed instituted was Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Odisha, Chitkara University, Chandigarh and Lovely University, Delhi.
