- After students and staff tested Covid-19 positive, top institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology and the National Institute of Technology closed down their campuses. As a result, about six to seven students from NIT Warangal who went for a vacation to Pondicherry during Christmas and New Year were infected with the virus, which spread among the students.
- The institute conducted tests rapidly among all the students and faculty members, and orders were issued to suspend physical classes. Students and research scholars are not advised to return to the campus until further notice. The classes will be conducted online, and examinations for students who do not stay on campus will be conducted online.
- IIT has also decided to roll back to online classes till the situation improves after six students were tested positive. Students who have come back to the campus are being provided with food, and other necessities inside their hostel rooms as students\’ movement has been restricted within the campus.
