Temple University to not rely on SAT scores for admissions

Temple University to not rely on SAT scores for admissions
  • The Vice Provost for admissions, financial aid and enrollment management at Temple University stated that the university had stopped relying heavily upon the SAT making the enrollment of students of the colour climb.
  • As fewer applications included standardized test scores, the students were being rewarded for academic records and extracurricular activities. As a result, the class of 2025 arrived last fall with a slightly larger number of students and with very little change in the first-generation students.
  • However, students of colour took a significant leap in representation to 45% from 42% and Black and Latinx students were admitted in record numbers. The Vice Provost also explained how the College Board’s planned changes to SAT tests will affect future college admissions.
