Student Visa Success Rate Improves – Canada

Student Visa Success Rate Improves - Canada

The Student Visa success rate has shown improvement after the rejection rate of roughly 35 per cent.

The rejection rate of student visa applications to Canada has reached the highest peak in the last two years starting at a rate of 35 per cent in 2019. This rate dropped to 60 per cent in 2022.

Students had to wait for a longer period of 8 to 10 months. In recent weeks, there is an increase in the approval of student visas for candidates with a three-year gap.

As Canada had a high rejection rate, students applied to other countries such as the US, the UK and Australia. Canada is a popular destination for international students due to its high-quality education, better living chances and fair visa and immigration policies.

Obtaining a visa becomes difficult due to the large number of applicants. During the pandemic, the Canadian government identified 10 colleges for scrutiny because of the increase in admitting international students.

Only 40 per cent of the student applications were accepted due to the rejection rate. However, now, the acceptance rate has been increased to 50 to 60 per cent. A student visa application may be denied due to a lack of stability in finances.

Other causes may be due to the lack of academic credits or scores as specified by educational institutions and the Canadian government. Others include a lower IELTS or TOEFL score, missing letter of acceptance or insufficient documentation.
