The Madras High Court has directed the state government and the UGC to explain the difficulties and the shortcomings which are faced while providing online education to the students of higher education.
The court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation seeking a direction to vaccinate the college-going students, the teaching and non-teaching staff on a priority basis. This is the reason behind the court directing the state government and the UGC to explain the shortcomings faced.
The petitioner also said that the UGC should address the shortcomings in educating the students through online modes such as providing internet and online access to the underprivileged students. He also said that the UGC should address the impact on medical and physical health due to prolonged online classes.
