Separate Admission Portals for UG and PG - Delhi University

The University of Delhi, Banaras Hindu University, Allahabad University, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University and Jamia Millia Islamia have received the maximum number of applications for CUET – UG 2023. In terms of the number of applicants, the CUET – UG remains the second-largest entrance exam in the country. Nearly 12.50 lakh students registered themselves in the debut edition of CUET – UG. Out of the registered candidates, 9.9 lakh of them submitted their applications.

Launching of two separate portals for admissions to UG and PG courses

A senior official at the universities stated that two separate portals will be launched by the University of Delhi for admissions to UG and PG programs through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). By May 20, the university is likely to begin its admission process. The admissions for undergraduate programs will be through CSAS (UG) 2023 and the admissions for postgraduate programs will be through CSAS (PG) 2023.

The University is opting for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for the first time for admission to post-graduate programs. Last year, the university admitted students through CUET UG to its 70 colleges. Students who wish to enter the University of Delhi will have to appear for CUET(UG)-2023 and CUET (PG)-2023. Moreover, they must also register on the CSAS UG and PG portals of the University of Delhi.

This year, the university is hopeful that the admission process would be smoother as compared to the previous year. The University is fully prepared to admit students to UG and PG programs through CUET this year. Two separate portals will be launched for admissions to UG and PG programs. For the first time, CUET was opted as a criterion to admit students to its various UG programs last year.

Opting of CUET PG for admissions to Postgraduate courses

The admission process is expected to be smoother this year and the university is ready to conduct PG admission as well for the first time. The University is quite confident about this initiative. The registrations for CUET UG and PG programs are ongoing. Nearly 14 lakh applications were received until last week for the CUET UG. Therefore, a 41 per cent increase has been registered from the debut edition last year.

The National Testing Agency has scheduled to conduct the exam from May 21 to 31, 2023. In the current academic session, DU has failed to fill all the 70,000 seats despite its best efforts. It can be seen that across all its colleges seven per cent of the seats remain vacant. 11,300 postgraduate students have been inducted by the university into various courses.
