- Colleges and Universities in Maharashtra have been closed for physical classes with immediate effect until February 15, 2021 and the examinations will be conducted in online mode. All the hostels/ dormitories would be closed in universities due to the rise in Covid-19 cases. However, foreign students can stay in the hostel and care will be provided to them.
- The decision was taken after a review meeting and a fresh set of guidelines were released on the closure of colleges. All non-agricultural universities as well as private universities and colleges in the state and instructed to be closed and colleges have been asked to start a student helpline to help the students during this time.
- Only 50% of non-teaching and teaching staff are allowed in the university at a time and the universities have been asked to ensure whether all students and faculty members are vaccinated. Reports suggest that a mini-lockdown can be expected in the state due to the sudden surge in the number of cases.
