- Schools and Colleges have been closed in Bangalore as Karnataka witnessed a spike in the Covid-19 cases after a review meeting on January 4, 2022. The Chief Minister of Karnataka imposed some curbs and ordered to shut all the educational institutions except classes 10-12, Nursing, Medical and Paramedical colleges for the next two weeks.
- Guidelines on online classes and operating schools will be released soon. The schools closing was speculated as Karnataka reported larger omicron infectious cases and students are a vulnerable population as they have not been vaccinated yet.
- Karnataka rolled out children’s vaccination for children of age group 15-18 years and efforts are being taken to vaccinate all the children with at least 1 dose by the end of January 2022. Schools and colleges will be reopened after the cases are reduced in Karnataka.
