Non-minority students to be admitted on CUET scores, not interview - St Stephen’s

St Stephen\’s College will be admitting the students based on CUET scores and not interviews.

The Supreme Court refused to stay the order on the admission of students to be made purely on the basis of the CUET or discretion has to be left with the college/institution. This is exclusively for the students of the open category. The college planned to follow an 85:15 formula. This means 85% weightage will be given to the CUET score while 15% will be given to its own interview.

The Delhi HC had previously ruled that St Stephen’s must not conduct interviews for admission of UG students for those from the open category. It also directed the college board to admit such candidates solely on the basis of CUET results.

The High Court had asked the college to issue a public notice declaring the admission procedure that was amended. However, after the SC had rejected St Stephen’s plea, the college removed the announcement of 15% weightage for interviews to all candidates.
