No plans to merge NEET, JEE with CUET

The Union Education Minister stated that there are no plans to merge NEET and JEE with CUET for the next two years.

The Union Education Minister stated that there are no plans to merge NEET and JEE with CUET for the next two years. The merger, currently, is only a concept and has not been fully decided. He stated that students must not be worried about this at the moment.

However, JEE and NEET will potentially be merged with CUET in the future. The UGC Chairman stated that any glitches that took place during the CUET-UG would not have any impact on the expansion plans. However, the merger will not be hurried.

The purpose of the common entrance exam is to reduce the burden on the students. The focus is now to plan well for the implementation from the lessons learnt on conducting CUET. An expert committee will be set up to study all important entrance exams being conducted from India as well as abroad.

Considering the massive exercise and the different disciplines involved, the preparation must begin now. Moreover, the implementation of NEP-2020 has begun and books for foundation courses will be available in schools by February 2023.

The Central Government has also planned to set up a digital university in the country. This will help the students to pursue multi-disciplinary courses for dual degrees. The minister has also asked the students to give their suggestions on the content of the books and study material.
