The National Testing Agency has announced the names of 114 CUET toppers who scored 100th percentile scores.
Shayema, a resident of Batla House, New Delhi has scored 100th percentile score in CUET-UG 2022. In her Class 12 board exam, she scored 83.8%. If the procedure was like the previous cut-offs, she would not have been able to study her subject of interest – History at a top Delhi University college.
CUET seems to be a second chance and a sure shot. Shayema’s case has just worked towards the reason for which CUET was conducted, i.e., to normalize the university application across all the boards.
The National Testing Agency announced the names of 114 CUET toppers who scored 100th percentile scores. Most of the toppers were CBSE students and had scored above 95% in their Class 12 exams. Only two had taken the Indian School Certificate exam in Class 12. However, only one wasn’t a student of a national board.
The surprising thing is that only one was a student of a state board. Over three-quarters of the total CUET examinees are from CBSE schools followed by the Board of UP, Bihar and CISCE.
A majority of the toppers were from New Delhi. Only a few students topped from the southern states. Kerala had three candidates and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh had one candidate among the top 100th percentile achievers. However, states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra and Goa had none.
Shayema is the only one amongst the 103 100th percentile scorers belonging to a local board but has managed to pass CUET. Shayema is an aspiring IFS officer and wishes to represent her country in the world.
Pooja Jain is a student of Loreto House in Kolkata and has scored 97.6% in Class 12. She is one of the two ISC students who scored 100th percentile in four subjects. She too stated that since her Class XII percentage was not enough to get admission into SRCC, DU, her CUET score was helpful. ]
