Manonmaniam Sundaranar University was established in 1990 in Thirunelveli, Tamil Nadu and was named after the Tamil Poet, Professor P. Sundaram Pillai. It is graded A by NAAC and CGPA 3.13 on a scale of four and ranked 101 overall by NIRF 2019. The University campus is spread across a sprawling expanse of 550 acres and it is equipped with a library and has been upgraded to a digitalized version where the students can access the library e-resources from their place of stay. It has a collection of nearly 1,15,000 books in every academic.
Manonmaniam Sundaranar University provides a residential facility for girl students in Hostel premises where each room can accommodate 4 students and basic facilities such as Food, R.O. purifier water plant, T.V.Room, Free Wi-Fi, Indoor and Outdoor Games, In House Matron, etc., are available.
The University also provides Sports Facilities for the students by organizing inter-college sports activities among its affiliated colleges. The students also take part in activities such as National Service Scheme, Youth Red Cross, Youth Welfare, etc.
Manonmaniam Sundaranar University has an Equal Opportunity Cell which conducts Coaching classes for students of SC/ ST/ OBC/ Minorities of Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari and Tuticorin District along with students from the University. This cell provides Coaching Classes to University students where the students experience difficulties, Coaching classes for IAS/IPS, Bank & TNPSC and Coaching Classes for National Eligibility Test (NET)/ State Level Eligibility Test for Lectureship (SLET). Study materials for Competitive NET/SLET Examinations are available along with a separate computer workstation and space for reading.
