Affiliated with the University of Calcutta, Loreto college was established in 1912. In 2000 it was the highest-ranked women’s college. In 2006 and in 2011 the college was declared as the educational institution with “Potential of Excellence”.
In 2013, the college introduced new certified courses in Human rights and empowerment. The course is taught by highly qualified professionals which help the students to stay on the right path. This college has a self-financing computer lab that aims to create computer literacy for all the students.
For so many years the aim of Loreto college has always been to develop high education standards. They want their students to be selfless and committed while they walk towards their goals. In 1996, a women’s cell was established by them and many workshops are conducted by the students for disable and young women.

A counselling cell is available that guides the students and a Lady doctor is available too for any inconvenience. Academic counselling is available for all the departments.

The canteen of the college provides healthy and hygienic food for the students which is affordable as well.
