In 2022, a total of 1003 students from India were studying in France according to the Ministry of External Affairs. France is a European country that consists of top-ranked universities. The French government provides various scholarships for students for India as well as international students in order to attract bright students. This is also done to encourage them to pursue their dreams of higher education. Below is the complete list of scholarships offered by the French government.
The Charpak Scholarship Program
Students can refer to the website inde.campusfrance.org for this scholarship. This scholarship covers expenses which include monthly living expenses of up to 700 EUR, student visa waiver, fees for studying in France and tuition fee waived of up to 5000 EUR, etc. The candidate must be 30 years old and have proof of Indian National in order to be eligible for this scholarship. They must have also studied in an Indian institute, etc.
Raman Charpak Fellowship (PhD)
Students can refer to the website cefipra.org for this scholarship. The candidate must be from India or must be Indian citizen residing in India and must have registered for a PhD in a research institution or recognized university in India in order to be eligible for the scholarship. Moreover, candidates applying from France must be residing in France. They must also have registered for a PhD/ Master’s degree in a research institution in France or a recognized university. The maximum age of the candidate must be 30 years.
Students who are not eligible include those who were supported by CEFIPRA and those who have permanent positions in universities or institutions. In order to apply for a foreign fellowship program, the candidate must have a Pre-authorisation or prior consent from his/ her Institute or University.
The expenses covered for Indian fellows include support of 1500 Euros per month for daily expenses, accommodation charges, local travel and Social Security charges. For French fellows, support of Rs 40,000 per month is provided for daily expenses, local travel, accommodation charges and social security. The expenses also include one return airfare ticket in economy class, Insurance coverage in travel and health wherever required and support for attending conferences/ workshops/ seminars during their stay.
La Femis
Students can refer to the website femis.fr for this scholarship. The expenses covered in this scholarship include a monthly allowance of 910 EUR, Covers medical insurance, Provides a return ticket to France, help to find accommodation, and waives student visa fees.
Candidates who have Proficiency in the French Language and have completed two years of tertiary studies or the equivalent of a baccalaureate and have four years of professional activity are eligible for this scholarship. They must be 27 or 30 years old based on the time of application.
Eiffel Scholarship Program of Excellence
Students can refer to the website campusfrance.org for this scholarship. The expenses covered in this scholarship include a monthly stipend of 1,181 EUR for Masters and 1700 EUR for Doctoral. It provides international travel, local transportation and train travel facilities. It also covers health insurance and reimburse supplemental health insurance and assistance in finding accommodation and rent payments.
The eligibility criteria for this scholarship is that it is applicable for Non-France applicants. The applicant must pass language proficiency and must be 25 years for Masters and 30 years for Doctoral.
The Erasmus Plus Mobility Scholarships for Foreign Students
Students can refere to the erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu for this scholarship. The expenses cover living, and accommodation. It also offers mobility scholarship for entry and exit in France. Candidates must have completed Bachelor’s degree and must currently be in the last year of Bachelor’s degree program. On the eligible list of this scholarship, they must also pursue a Master’s program in two different countries.
