The availability of campus accommodation becomes an important factor when deciding on their college.
A majority of students in Delhi University colleges come from outside the city to study. Thus, campus accommodation is an important factor for candidates to keep in mind while selecting their college. Only 20 DU colleges are equipped with hostels.
Also, the capacity is limited in colleges which have hostels. Outstation students tend to seek accommodation in paying guest facilities. Students are selected to the hostels on the basis of “merit” with some conducting interviews. Below is a list of all the DU colleges that are equipped with hostel facilities:
North Campus
- Daulat Ram College: The college is a women’s college. It has a 200-seater capacity and offers facilities for students of all three years.
- Hansraj College: This college is a co-educational college. However, it does not have a women’s hostel. It hosts a men’s hostel with a capacity for around 200 students of all three years.
- Hindu College: This college host a men’s hostel with a capacity for 200 students. It also hosts a women’s hostel with a capacity of 156.
- Indraprastha College for Women: The college has two hostels. One hostel is equipped with a capacity for 280 students and another with a capacity for 170 students.
- Kirori Mal College: This college does not have a women’s hostel. However, it has a men’s hostel with a capacity for around 170 students.
- Ramjas College: This college host a women’s hostel with a capacity for 80 students. It also hosts a men’s hostel with a capacity of 130 students.
- Shri Ram College of Commerce: The college hosts a men’s hostel and a women\’s hostel with a capacity for 150 students and 50 students respectively.
- Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College: The college hosts a women’s hostel with a capacity for 147 students.
- St. Stephen’s College: The college has three hostel blocks for women and men. The combined capacity is around 380 students.
South Campus
- Sri Venkateswara College: The College has a women’s hostel and a men’s hostel with a capacity of 72 students each.
- Lady Shri Ram College for Women: The college has a hostel with a capacity for around 200 students which is available only to first-year students.
Off-Campus
- Keshav Mahavidyalaya: It is a co-educational college. It is located in Pitampura of North West Delhi. It does not have a men’s hostel. However, it has a women’s hostel with a capacity of 78 students.
- Maharaja Agrasen College: This is a co-educational college. It is located in Vasundhara Enclave. The college hosts a women’s hostel with a capacity of 58 students.
- Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies: The College is located in Rohini at North West Delhi. The college has a men’s hostel and a women’s hostel with a capacity of 72 each.
- Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce: It is a co-educational college. It is located in Pitampura of North West Delhi. The college hosts a hostel for women with a capacity of 126 students.
- Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College: This college is located in Dwarka. It has a men’s hostel and a women’s hostel with a capacity of 90 each.
Off-Campus – Women\’s hostel
- Bharati College: This is a women’s college which is located in Janakpuri of West Delhi. This college offers a hostel facility with a capacity of 68 students.
- Janki Devi Memorial College: It is a women’s college located in Rajinder Nagar of Central Delhi. It has a hostel with a capacity of 105 students.
- Lady Irwin College: It is a women’s college located in Mandi House. The college has a hostel with a capacity for 200 UG and PG students.
- Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women: The college is located in Vasundhara Enclave. The college hosts a women’s hostel with a capacity of 100 students.
