JNU to hold CUET from 2022-2023 – Equal opportunity for all

JNU to hold CUET from 2022-2023 – Equal opportunity for all
  • The admissions to various programs for the academic session 2022-2023 in the Jawaharlal Nehru University will be held through Common Universities Entrance Test. CUET will provide equal opportunity to the eligible candidates from across the country and thus, the burden of taking several entrance examinations will be reduced.
  • JNU has been conducting its own entrance exam JNUEE since 2019 to admit the students to its various programs as a computer-based test in collaboration with the NTA. One of the officials stated that there is no big difference between JNUEE and CUET. The idea of CUET is however not new and it was first discussed in 2010.
  • Until last year, only 14 central universities were conducting CUET but from the upcoming academic session, all 45 central universities will be conducting CUET for UG and PG admissions. Centralized admissions are cost-effective and save time as only a single application form must be filled out for the examination.
  • The examination will pave way for merit-based ranking and would eradicate the hassle of multiple examinations. This method will also help the underprivileged students and Economically Weaker Sections as reservations are already in place for them.
