Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University was established in Hyderabad in 1972. It has been accredited by NAAC with an A Grade and ranked 57th in Engineering Category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020. It is also ranked 30th among all Indian Government Universities by The Week-Hansa Research Survey 2017.
The University campus is placed on a sprawling 89-acre campus at Kukatpally, Hyderabad along with 4 Constituent Engineering Colleges, 15 other constituent units on Hyderabad campus and 423 affiliated colleges. The University offers B.Tech. programmes in 24 streams and B.Pharm. at UG level. It also offers Integrated 5-year Master’s programme, M.Tech. Programmes in 68 streams, M.Pharm. in 11 streams, M.Sc. in 10 streams, MCA, MBA, M.S., M.Phil., Ph.D. Research Programmes in streams of Engineering, Technology, Science, Management and Humanities.

The University focuses on Research Programs and consists of an independent R&D Cell to promote and monitor the research Programs. It consists of research centres for the benefit of the students and research scholars. It has also launched an Innovation and provides a unique platform to pursue innovation, Applied Research and tech-entrepreneurship.
The University Library caters to the needs of the staff and students and it is equipped with modern facilities like online databases, e-journals, e-books, standards, theses and dissertations and also in the form of the paperback of books, journals, reports, etc. The University also contains a Competitive Examinations Reference Library (CERL) which provides materials for competitive examinations like UPSC, Civil Services, Group-I, IES, GATE, etc. The Library also extends photocopying facilities for the students.
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University provides hostel facilities for both boys and girls in all of its constituent colleges and units. The hostellers are provided with facilities such as a TV Hall, Dining Hall, Gymnasium room, Computer Room, Reading Room, etc. The University is also equipped with a canteen facility which provides hygienic food at reasonable rates. The Campus is also supported by a Health Centre which is headed by a full-time doctor which has 4 General Wards, 4 Consultation rooms and a 6-bedded facility.
The campus is Wi-Fi enabled and consists of a computer lab, bank and fire station. The students are facilitated with sports such as badminton, volleyball, kabaddi, cricket, football, basketball and student activity centre, etc. as a part of extracurricular activity. Students also take part in the National Service Scheme and the Entrepreneurship development cell.
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University consists of a placement cell that enables the students to place them in the core companies or the IT sector. It conducts events like workshops, conferences, Technical and Co-Curricular activities throughout the year. Some notable recruiters include IBM, Oracle, L&T Infotech, TCS, Accenture, MuSigma, Google, TCL, MRF, Qspiders and many more. It is also equipped with a University-Industry Interaction Centre (UIIC) where they organize various joint activities between the Industry and the University.
