- Jammu University has launched the Department of Journalism and Media Studies as a fulfilment of a long-awaited desire of the civil society of the Jammu region.
- The course shall include continuous interaction with the best journalists in the country along with regular workshops, special lectures, exposure to the latest technology, institutional visit, etc., apart from the regular classroom lectures. The practical component would be an integral part of the course.
- The Centre for Media Studies will also comprise of Oral History Cell, Language Lab and Community Radio Station which are in the final stage of their completion. Once the centre becomes functional, these components shall become nodes where students can improve their necessary skills and practical experiences by handling the latest equipment.
