Scientists at Stanford University have created a database of top-cited scientists. This database provides standardised information on citations, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, h-index, composite indicator and citations to papers in different authorship positions.

There were separate data for career-long research and single recent year impact. Career-long research data consisted of data until the end of 2021. However, single current-year data consisted of citations received during 2021.

A percentile rank of 2 per cent or above in the sub-field forms the selection criteria. Scientists were classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields. This list features almost three thousand researchers from India.

Seven JMI professors found their place in Career-Long research while 21 scientists from JMI found their place in single current-year research. However, the database that is available publicly has over 100,000 top scientists.
