- The SeSaBa project examined all levels of international student study and figured that the international students would benefit from a holistic support structure that considers both academic matters and typical challenges of student life at the universities.
- International bachelors cited that difficult financial situation is one of the reasons for dropping out of courses. Masters students cite that their reason to drop out was dissatisfaction with study conditions and the desire for a practical job.

- Students seek help from other international students in the early semesters of their degrees which helps them to cope with both academic and non-academic challenges. When asked about the intentions to stay in Germany post-graduation, 76% of the masters\’ students and 42% of the bachelors\’ students said that they intended to stay in Germany after graduation.
- Language courses could increase students intentions to stay as German language skills are essential for the labour market. Germany also provides an 18-month right of residence for the students after graduation in order to find a job.
- Students must be trained in the German language during their course period even though it is not necessary for their studies. Only a small proportion of the students are using the variety of courses offered by the universities and this must be changed by the universities through target information for the students and career services.
