  • A proposed International College of Music in Mumbai is decided by the Maharashtra cabinet to be named after legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar who died on February 6. The proposed institution will be known as the Bharat Ratna Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar International Music College.
  • One and a half years ago, the higher and technical education department has decided to set up the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar International Music College in Kalina on land which belongs to Mumbai University.
  • The process of land acquisition for the project took some time but unfortunately, the great singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away. A committee was constituted by the higher and technical education department in which the family member of singer Lata Mangeshkar and many other singers were made its members.
  • The family members of Lata Mangeshkar proposed that the college be named Bharat Ratna Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar as Deenanath Mangeshkar was her father and guru. The college will consist of an international standard museum where people can do research.
