Indira Gandhi National Open University – Admissions 2021

Indira Gandhi National Open University started its admission process for the July session on June 11 at its official website ignou.ac.in and the admission process is now extended until July 31. In order to provide admissions to the students belonging to the first and second year of their courses, the university has released a re-registration form on May 5 that is extended up to July 31.

There is no entrance examination for admissions at the University except for a few courses such as B.Ed., B.Sc. Nursing and M.B.A. The courses are held in two sessions, i.e., January and July sessions.

Indira Gandhi National Open University offers a total of 277 programs that include Undergraduate Courses, Postgraduate Courses, Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma and Ph.D. programs. The Mode of study is however offline and there are 67 regional centres in which classes are conducted. 

The Eligibility Criteria for the Postgraduate Courses is that the candidate must have passed Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent in the relevant stream from a recognized university. The Eligibility for the Undergraduate Courses is that the candidates must have passed 10+2 or any equivalent from a recognized board in the relevant stream.

However, for such as Bachelor of Library and Information Science and Bachelor of Education, the candidate must have passed a Bachelor’s degree with 50 per cent aggregate in any discipline. 

For the candidates who wish to pursue B.Sc. Nursing (Post Basic), candidates must have cleared 10+2 with a Diploma of three years in General Nursing and Midwifery or must have cleared 10th class or equivalent with a Diploma of three years in General Nursing and Midwifery.

The Candidates who wish to apply for Indira Gandhi National Open University must visit their official website and fill in their details in the registration form. They must then upload the necessary documents and pay the application fees through net banking, credit or debit card.

The Candidates are also given the flexibility of making corrections in their registration form after the registration is closed by logging in using their registration credentials within the scheduled time. If there are any details found to be wrong, then the application may be rejected.

The status of the admission is updated by the University after successful registration which can be checked on the official website. If the admission status is updated, then the admission of the candidate is confirmed and an e-mail and mobile number are sent to the registered e-mail and mobile number of the candidates to confirm the admissions.
