- The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Indira Gandhi National Open University inaugurated the IGNOU-MSDE extension centres. The extension centres constitute 32 National Skill Training Institutes across the country.
- Through this program, IGNOU-MSDE extension centres will have 32 NSTIs, 3000 ITIs, 500 PMKK and 300 Jan Shikshan associated with it as Registration Centres, Examination Centres and Work Centres for hands-on experience.
- Students will also gain an opportunity to join the three years Degree Program of IGNOU through this initiative and will have easy access to attain higher education.
- This Memorandum of Understanding is signed for a period of 10 years and will be renewed subject to mutual understanding and agreement. This MoU is in line with the National Education Policy 2022 for increasing Gross Enrollment Ratio in Higher education and the Sustainable development goal 4.4.
