With only a few days left for the end of Class XII board examinations, students are in confusion and lack understanding in choosing which career will suit them the best. Students have two options to go with, namely; Continue with their existing stream and go for higher studies or switch to a new stream and go for higher education. Students who have chosen Physics, Chemistry and Biology stream can opt for MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BNYS, BDS, B.Pharm., Nursing, Radiology, Fisheries, Anthropology, Forestry, etc. Students who have chosen Arts and Humanities Courses can opt for specialized courses in fields of economics, psychology sociology, political science, history, geography, etc.

Students with Business and Commerce can choose subjects such as B.Com. in any specialized stream, CA, CS, CMA, etc. However, Law courses are open to all with any stream and courses after the 12th. Other courses such as Fashion Design, Textile Design, Animation Design, Fine Arts, Interior Decoration, Journalism, Hotel Management, Culinary Arts, Material Design, Visual Communication Design, Digital Design, English and other language courses are open to students of all the streams.

In order to filter out the subjects, it is necessary to understand the strengths and weaknesses in areas of aptitudes, interests and personality traits.

It is also necessary to narrow down the searches to a few clusters of careers that suit the best in terms of aptitudes, interests and personalities.
