A detailed report was released by University Living. The report by University Living analyzed the number of students who have been applying to universities abroad. It also analyzed various other parameters such as the most popular colleges, preference of accommodation for the students, demand for study abroad, etc. It also showed the study abroad opportunities for small-town students.
Several interesting insights were revealed by the report. These insights included the increase in the number of students from tier 2 and tier 3 cities on the University Living platform. The increase was almost doubled, from 35 per cent to 61 per cent in 2021 to 2022.

Students largely applied to the University of Liverpool in the UK followed by the University of Leeds, Queen Mary University London, Nottingham Trent University, Aston University, Birmingham and the University of Westminster.
The top spots were taken by Trinity College Dublin, National College of Ireland, University College Dublin, UCD Belfield Campus and Dublin Business School in Ireland. Also, most students preferred the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), The University of Sydney, The University of Melbourne, the University of Adelaide and Macquarie University, Sydney.
The most popular colleges chosen in Canada were the University of Toronto, George Brown College, Toronto Metropolitan University (Ryerson University), Concordia University and York University. The study abroad journey begins soon after the candidates receive their admission letters from their preferred universities.
Accommodation measures in Abroad
Students must ensure that everything is in place starting from loans to finding accommodation along with other related services before they move abroad. At the University Halls, only 20 per cent of the students find accommodation, from all the students that apply to the aforementioned universities.
Accommodation is sought outside in PBSAs and other private apartments by the remaining 80 per cent of the students. Moreover, help is sought with their post-admission requirements. Around 70-80 per cent of the students who are planning to go abroad seek this help. This help is especially sought by those who hail from the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the Asia Pacific regions.
The loan applications on its platform increased four times in 2022 compared to 2021. In gender ratio, around 57 per cent and 43 per cent were males and females respectively. Earlier, only students from tier-1 and metro cities moved abroad for their higher education.
Currently, as the world is rapidly digitising, the boundaries have been blurred. Thus, exposure is given greatly to the abundant choices that are available for pursuing higher education. Students who are increasingly choosing to study overseas are currently from tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
