Germany hosted its highest number of international students ever in the winter semester of 2021-2022.
Germany continues to gain popularity among those who wish to study abroad. There year, there is an 8% rise or roughly 25,000 more students from the previous year in Germany. Thus, the country has hosted its highest number of international students ever in the 2021-2022 winter semester.
In the last semester, around 350,000 of Germany’s almost three million student population were international students according to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) report. India was the second source of international students while China was the first. The number of Indian students since 2017-18 has risen to around 28,500 by 65%.
Germany has ranked fourth after the US, the UK and Australia. International first-year students have been consistently rising following a drop during the pandemic. The number of international students in Germany increased even through the pandemic. This was due to the existing international students extending their study programs.
Germany has managed to maintain its good reputation among students over the past two years. This is the success of Germany due to its efforts to ensure quality and provide care for international students. The student visa appointment slots for Indian students will reopen on November 1.
