Individuals who demonstrate good leadership qualities and have completed the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in the US are awarded the Fulbright-Nehru fellowship. To Indians who wish to pursue a master’s degree program at selected colleges and universities in the US, the Full-bright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships are awarded. Benefits of Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship

Through this fellowship, a student can avail of J-1 visa support, round-trip economy class air travel from the home city to the host institution in the US, tuition and fees funding, and costs related to living along with accident and sickness coverage as per the government of the US guidelines. However, for dependents, the Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowships provide no financial assistance.

General Requirements for the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship

The applicant must be a responsible citizen of India. He must be able to contribute to a full and fair picture of the civilization and culture of India. They must also help to promote friendship and understanding between the citizens of India and the United States of America.

The candidate must not be residing in the US during the placement and recruitment cycle, i.e., February 2023-July 2024. Moreover, citizens from India who are active permanent residents of foreign countries are not eligible. The academic/ professional achievement of the candidate must be high. They must be able to demonstrate their proficiency in the English language which will enable them to undertake the proposed program and cope up with life in the US.

If the applicant wishes to travel abroad, he must inform USIEF well in advance during the application cycle of July 2023-2024. If they are employed, they must be eligible for leave. They must also have good health. Also, they must not apply for or hold permanent residence status in the United States. On the completion of the fellowship, they must give the undertaking to return to India.

Eligibility criteria for the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship

From a recognized university in India, the applicant must have completed an equivalent of a US bachelor’s degree with at least 55 per cent marks. Applicants must have completed a master’s degree or a four-year bachelor’s degree. If the bachelor’s degree is of less than four years duration, they must possess a full-time postgraduate diploma from a recognized Indian institution.

Moreover, they must at least have three years of full-time professional work experience that is relevant to the proposed field of study by the deadline of the application. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate experience in community service and leadership. They must also not be enrolled in a US degree program or have another degree from a US university.

Candidates who are employed must follow the instructions regarding the employer’s endorsement carefully. The endorsement must be obtained from the appropriate administrative authority if applicable on the FNMasters Employer’s Endorsement Form. Moreover, an indication must be provided by the employer that leaves will be granted for the fellowship period.

This is the study of all aspects of Art and culture management. It includes arts administration, management of profit and not-for-profit art institutions, heritage conservation and museum studies, and many more. These fellowships are for the management of the arts and not for pursuing graduate degrees in fine or applied art and design or art history.

Economics

Economics is the study of production, demand, and allocation of resources in society. It also deals with the economic trends and effects of government economic policy on the economy. Economics branches into development economics, macroeconomics, international economics, microeconomics, agricultural economics, labor economics, public finance, etc.

Environmental Science

This study includes the study of environment and all its complexities. It branches into natural resource management, environmental toxicology, pollution prevention, environmental engineering, environmental law, environmental policy analysis, etc.
