The CUET UG 2022 was an exhausting process. This is because the 2022 batch had to prepare for two boards and there were lots of uncertainty as they were the first batch appearing for the board exams after the Covid-19 pandemic. The procedure of CUET UG 2022 was very long as it went on for months. However, a lot of students benefitted from this exam. They were able to shift their focus to a common platform from board exams. A level playing field was provided to all the students.
Aparajita Garg is a student who is currently pursuing BA (Hons) in Political Science from Lady Shri Ram College. She hails from Gautam Buddha Nagar and feels that it would have been better if she had secured full marks in her CUET UG 2022 Political Science exam. She believes that her name was last on the list even though she got the college and course of her choice. This is because she didn’t get full marks in the subject.
In CUET UG 2022, she appeared in five subjects namely, Political Science, Economics, Psychology, English and Sociology. Except for Political Science, she scored 200 in all subjects. She secured 194 in Political Science and her best of four subjects was 800. In CBSE Class 12 Board exams in 2022, she secured 98.4 per cent.
The transition from Descriptive to Objective – A fruitful experience
As she always focused on the details while studying, it was not difficult for her and found it easy. In Political Science, she secured 194 while she secured 200 in all subjects. She lost one mark to normalization and 5 marks because she chose a wrong answer. Her tentative rank was 33 for being eligible for BA (Hons) in Political Science. She feels that her name would have appeared higher if she had secured full marks in Political Science. Nevertheless, she is happy to study her choice of course in her dream college.

Students with no benefit from CUET
Initially, there was a lot of confusion regarding how to appear for CUET and the subjects that must be chosen. This caused a lot of stress. Students from the PCM batch were unable to score as much as Humanities students. Therefore, the way that the students were impacted positively in terms of options is not known.
Things that needed improvement
Improvement can be made to CUET by expanding its syllabus. They can also add topics covered by other boards and become more inclusive. This is because, the syllabus is not as same as NCERT in other boards, especially state boards.
Advice to students
As coaching centres are time-consuming, students need not waste their time there. Moreover, coaching centres also cannot teach anything different than something that is already known. Students must read the NCERT thoroughly and concentrate on self-study.
