Chaidur College was established in 1967 at Gohpur in the Chaiduar Region of Assam. Chaidur often finds mention in the Assamese legends and history because it was constantly visited by tribes from the neighbouring hilly areas. Chaidur College is a co-education institution that is affiliated with Gauhati University. The college has active departments in physics, mathematics, chemistry, botany, zoology, language & literature, English, history, education, economics, political science, accountancy and management including vocational courses in mass media and medical laboratory technician. The college also has distance learning centres under the University of IGNOU, KKHSOU and IDOL. A well-equipped and advanced Biotechnology Hub is also present in the college. The college runs on a strict motto of “from darkness, lead me to light,” and the faculty is resilient to provide a good education to the students so that they can build a bright future for themselves.
COURSES
Chaidur College offers a 2-year intermediate course in Science and Arts and follows the administrative and academic prospects laid down by the Assam Higher Secondary Council, AHSEC. All examinations in these two years are conducted by AHSEC.
The college also provides under graduation (BA, BSC and BCOM) degrees, B. Voc. Courses, Certificate/Diploma/Advance Diploma programs and Career oriented courses.

- 50 intake capacity totals in certificate/diploma in theatre, stage craft & acting, Nursing and Health care
- 20 intake capacity in career-oriented courses in performing arts and tea plantation management
Eligibility
- For admissions in intermediate programs class 10 or equivalent scores are taken into consideration
- For admissions into UG and vocational courses, class 12th or equivalent scores are taken into consideration
CAMPUS
Chaidur college is part of the rich history of Assam. The campus is located on the artistic north bank of the Brahmaputra river. The college runs two hostels for girls and boys separately.
The college runs an English Lab, institutional Biotech Hub and also has a correspondence centre to provide separate post-graduation degrees under Guwahati University. Graduates with relevant TDC subjects can apply for these courses at this centre run by the college.
SCHOLARSHIP/ AWARDS
- The college offers financial assistance, free studentship, incentive cards to purchase extra two books and get a 1-month free course in the language lab or computer to the meritorious students in need.

- Purabi Dutta Boruah memorial award is presented every year to the top graduate student.
- Rewati Mohon Hazarika merit-cum-means scholarship is awarded to HS-I & HS-II (Sci.) students.
