Moreover, with early engagement with tech companies and the advent of internships, only minor training is required for a person to be career-ready. Engineers today have access to resources, mentorship and various learning avenues that helps in their development before acquiring a job.
Engineers are becoming aware of their career goals and are paving the way to reach them. The engineers of tomorrow are getting better equipped.
GROOMING THE NEXT-GEN ENGINEERS
Early grooming will prepare them for the industry. The industry as well as educational institutions should engage much early during the graduation years to prepare the students. A regular and conscious effort must be made to focus on fundamentals and work towards them.
Moreover, organisations that keep engineers at the core must invest in developing the skills of the existing talent pool. A good understanding must be developed of various domains and emerging technologies.
This will help in networking with industry experts and learning much more before they enter a corporate environment. However, on-the-job learning is considered the best way to train a graduate to make them ready.
The students have high expectations from organisations. Organisations provide sufficient opportunities for skill development. However, it is becoming hard for students to meet the requirements of specified skills in the corporate world.
