Delhi University to begin classes for first-year students

Delhi University has planned to begin classes for the first-year students on November 1, regardless of the completion of admissions.

Regardless of whether all rounds of seat allocation to the candidates through its new admission process are completed, Delhi University will begin the first semester for the newly admitted undergraduate students on November 1.

Delhi University has launched its common seat allocation system for candidates to register through their CUET results. However, the university has not yet released the date sheet or timeline for the three-phase admission process. It has, however, aimed to close registrations by October 3.

The first round of allocation of seats will be done by October 10-12. At least, four rounds of allocations are expected. The National Testing Agency has announced that the results will be announced on September 15. If the results are further delayed, the process of admission will be shifted.

The major challenge for DU is the creation of a merit list based on CUET scores for every program along with the preferences listed by the students. Students must be careful in choosing their preferences. Students can do this by using NIRF rankings as the reference point. This will help them have clarity on the top few colleges but not the entire list.

The academic year is expected to come into order from the 2023-2024 session. CUET must be conducted in March next year to ensure that the academic year begins on time. The exam should be conducted two times, one just after the CBSE examinations.
