  • Kerala has the highest mean admission percentage at 98.43% as per the records published by the varsity panel. The Vice-chancellor of DU was forced to call forth a nine-member committee amidst the allegations of foul play.
  • The committee was raised by Dean DS Rawat. This meeting was set up to study in detail about the reasons for over-and under-admissions to the varsity’s UG courses. There was also a discussion about the board-wise distribution of admissions in UG courses. A few strategies about alternative options to examine OBC admissions concerning the Non-Creamy Layer status were also held.
  • According to recent records, among the 39 Indian boards, students from CBSE had the highest number of admissions (37,767), followed by the students from the Kerala Board of Higher Secondary Education (1,890). The numbers from the Board of School Education, Haryana, Indian School Certificate, and Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan are 1824, 1606, and 1824 respectively. About 90% of the admission to UG courses in DU are from these five boards according to recent reports.
  • Surprisingly, students had approached the Delhi High Court due to the high proportion of applications/admissions from Kerala. The recent data indicates Kerala Board of Higher Secondary Education has the highest number of total admissions in comparison to other State boards. In the trials conducted, it was also realized that there is noted significant variation in the marking scheme of different boards which can end up influencing the overall marks significantly.
