Yesterday, i.e., 13 February, 2023, the University of Delhi released the eligibility criteria for admissions through Common University Entrance Test to undergraduate courses. The eligibility criteria for pursuing a course in the University of Delhi remains same as of last year. Aspirants of DU can visit the official website admission.uod.ac.in in order to check the eligibility criteria.

It was also notified by the University of Delhi that the basic criteria for admissions to Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) of the College of Art will be CUET. Delhi University is a well-renowned university that draws admissions from across India and abroad. The university adopted CUET (Common University Entrance Test) for admissions in all Undergraduate courses from last year onwards. Such courses included BCom, BA, BTech, BSc, etc.

Moreover, from the upcoming academic session 2023-2024, the University of Delhi will also conduct post-graduate admissions through CUET PG. DU is composed of three campuses which includes south campus, north campus and off campus. It has 91 affiliated colleges spread across three campuses. Common University Entrance Test – Undergraduate 2023

After the introduction of the Common University Entrance Test, Delhi University received nearly 2.17 lakh applications from candidates for its undergraduate programs last year. From this, a total of 64,915 students were enrolled out of the roughly available 70,000 undergraduate seats that was on offer.

Popular courses offered in the University of Delhi

The five most popular courses of Delhi University in 2022 out of the top 50 courses included:

  • BCom – 21 colleges
  • BCom (Honours) – 14 colleges
  • BA (Hons) in English – 8 colleges
  • BA (Hons) in Political Science – 5 colleges
  • BA (Honours) in History – 2 colleges

One of the most popular programs offered in the Delhi University is the Political Science Honours program at Hindu College. In 2021, the course had a 100 per cent cut-off. Moreover, in 2022, the lowest CUET score was 797.82/800 against which a candidate was admitted to this program. If it was converted to percentage terms, this would account to 99.73 per cent.

Moreover, for BA (Hons) Psychology, 795.086/800 was the lowest CUET score against which students were admitted. When converted to percentage terms, this would roughly account to 99.38 per cent.

NIRF Ranking 2022 of Delhi University affiliated colleges

Under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings, Delhi University has been ranked at the 13th position. This list was released by the Ministry of Education. As per the NIRF rankings, the top 10 colleges of the university are:

Scholarships offered at University of Delhi

Delhi university has released a list of 20 scholarships, for the year 2022-23. This was exclusively released for students belonging to various undergraduate courses offered by DU. Eligible candidates for this scholarship are students from all the affiliated colleges of DU. There has been an extension to apply this scholarship and last date to submit the application is February 15. Earlier, the last date to submit the application was January 31.

The various scholarships offered by the University of Delhi includes:

  • Sh. Prem Prakash Award
  • The Delhi University and College Karamchari Union Book-Grant
  • The Delhi State Co-operative Union Book-Grant
  • Pt. Man Mohan Nath Dhar Book-Grant

  • Ganga Sant Book-Grant
  • Puran Chand Khatri Book-Grant and many more.

Merit scholarships funded by the State is awarded to students from the SC, ST and OBC category. The eligibility criteria for the students to apply for this scholarship includes a score of at least 60 per cent in the previous academic year. Moreover, the scholarship does not mandate any upper-income limit for the students belonging to SC and ST categories. However, for the students of OBC category, they must have a household income below Rs 3 lakh per annum.

Hostel facilities at the University of Delhi

CUET scores are now the basis of Hostel allotment in the University of Delhi. Earlier, Class 12 Board Examination scores were the criteria for the allocation of rooms for undergraduate students in the Delhi University hostels. Placement assistance is offered by the Central Placement Cell of the University of Delhi. History of the Delhi University
