- The Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi University to fill up the vacant seats across all categories in its LLB course and stated that it is unfair to leave the seats vacant in such a prestigious institute in spite of meritorious candidates.
- Getting seats at reputed institutes such as the DU is a dream for many students and the eligible students as well as petitioners who have cleared the examination should not be denied the opportunity to pursue the degree.
- The High Court stated that DU’s refusal to consider filling the vacant seat was unacceptable because the university did not follow the cut-off date given in the guidelines in cancellation of admissions in certain cases.
- Within 2 weeks, DU has been directed to fill up all the vacant seats in the LLB course considering all the eligible candidates across all the categories. If the students are required to attend additional classes, the respondent will ensure that it will be conducted within time.
