CUET UG 2023 Participating Universities: Admission details on JNU

One of the first central universities to adopt the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate admissions is Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Through the newly introduced entrance test, last year, the university received 67,456 applications.

Admissions are offered by the JNU for the academic session 2023-2024 through the Common Universities Entrance Test CUET UG – 2023 in the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies and in the School of Language, Literature, and Cultural Studies in UG and COP programs such as

 

    • BA – MA integrated program in Foreign languages,

    • BS-MSc integrated program in Ayurveda biology and

    • Certificate of Proficiency programs.

Courses offered by JNU through CUET

The following undergraduate courses are offered by the JNU for which CUET scores are used for admissions

 

    • BA (Hons) Pashto

    • BA (Hons) Persian

    • BA (Hons) Korean

    • BA (Hons) Mongolian

    • BA (Hons) Japanese

    • BA (Hons) Spanish

    • BA (Hons) French

    • BA (Hons) Chinese

    • BA (Hons) Russian

    • BA (Hons) German

    • BSc-MSc Integrated program in Ayurveda Biology (5 years)

    • BSc Ayurveda Biology

Hostel Facilities at JNU

The University consists of hostels with a total capacity of 5500 students. Out of these, Seven hostels are reserved for boys, four hostels for girls, four co-ed hostels, and one hostel for married students and working women. Candidates from outstation admitted to the university for any program of study will be considered for hostel accommodation as per the rules of the University. However, this condition will be subject to the availability of hostel accommodation. Moreover, automatic allotment of hostel accommodation will not be ensured with the Grant of admission to the University.

Presence of a Linguistic Cell

The Linguistic Empowerment Cell (LEC) of the JNU offers various capacity-building programs. This is exclusively for students who are in need of linguistic skills for their academic pursuits. Foundation courses in English are run by LEC in their respective centers and schools for students who have not had English as a medium of instruction before coming to JNU.

Students who find it difficult to grasp the concepts offered in regular programs can also avail themselves of these foundation courses. Students who wish to learn academic writing skills can also use other courses conducted by LEC. Different slots are allotted for the learners and they can opt for the 8 to 10 am slot or the 4 to 6 pm slot. They can choose their courses depending on the timing of their regular programs.
