CUET UG 2023 – In Subjects Requiring Calculations, Candidates to Get Extra Time

CUET UG 2023 - In Subjects Requiring Calculations, Candidates to Get Extra Time

Students who are appearing in the math and accountancy papers will be given an additional 15-20 minutes in order to complete their examination paper. This change has come following the feedback given by students according to the National Testing Agency.

Students appearing for subjects such as mathematics and accountancy, as announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA), in the Common University Entrance Test – Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2023 will be given extra time for completing their papers. Students who are appearing in these two papers will be getting additional 15-20 minutes. Thus, this will enable them to complete the paper.

This change has come following the feedback from students, stated the National Testing Agency. Many candidates, last year, were not able to complete the paper due to lengthier calculations in the 45 minutes provided. Complaints of a scarcity of time in papers such as mathematics and accounts were received by the National Testing Agency from candidates who appeared in CUET-UG last year as they required calculations. Thus, these latest changes will be making the process for all candidates free and fair.

Extension in the Number of Subjects

Moreover, over and above the extra time given to complete the papers, the National Testing Agency has increased the number of subjects that can be picked by the candidates to 10 from the 9 subjects that were given previously including languages.

According to the number of subjects a candidate chooses, the fee for registration has been increased by the National Testing Agency. Students from the general category, last year, had to pay Rs 650 while they chose four subjects. However, Rs 750 must be paid as a fee this year for three subjects.

In order to enable more and more students to take this test, the National Testing Agency has not only increased the number of exam centers in India but has also added centers outside India as well. Therefore, in India, the test will be held in 547 cities. Moreover, CUET will be conducted in 24 foreign cities across the world in Russia, Australia, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, the United States of America, Singapore, South Africa, Nigeria, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Brazil, among others.

The number of Shifts increased

The National Testing Agency has previously announced that the examinations were to be conducted in two shifts. However, the test will now be conducted in three shifts. For CUET UG 2023, the application process began on February 9. Students must conclude their application process on or before March 12. The correction window for the application will be open from March 15 to 18 till 11: 50 pm. Also, according to the National Testing Agency, the exam will be conducted from May 21 to May 31, 2023.

It is mandatory for candidates who are looking for admission into UG courses to attempt CUET UG 2023 offered by various participating central universities and other institutions participating in CUET. Moreover, this year, in college entrance exams, an additional 26 universities will be participating.
