Experts state that the students will be affected if there are any major changes due to the JEE, NEET and CUET merger in the exam system.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) proposed to merge the JEE, NEET and CUET exams. The current levels of CUET, JEE and NEET are different. Students will be affected by any such major changes in the exam system in addition to the pandemic.
The main reason for this proposal was to reduce stress and logistics for students. Instead of testing students on similar subjects, again and again, one common entrance exam will increase feasibility. However, the student community and parents requested not to induce this sudden change in the current academic year.
With students trying to recover from the pandemic, any changes announced now will only lead to greater stress among the students. The main requirement of today is to remove technical glitches faced during exams to protect the interest of serious students.
Currently, the exam pattern for JEE and NEET is different and they can be merged after making them the same. Moreover, not all students attend both medical and engineering exams. Merging the exams for a few students is not a good idea. The University Grants Commission has formed a committee to look into the proposal.
