The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is an all-India examination conducted for the students who seek admission at participating Central Universities to various undergraduate programs.

Examination Pattern for NTA CUET 2023

The languages include Japanese, Russian, Chinese, German, Spanish, Italian, Persian, Nepali, Arabic, Konkani, Kashmiri, Dogri, Bodo, Santhali, Manipuri, Tibetan, Maithali, Sanskrit and Sindhi.
  • Section II – This section will include Domain-based subjects. In this section, the candidates will have to answer 40 out of 50 questions. The questions will be based only on the Class 12th syllabus and will be based on the Multiple Choice Question pattern. A total of 27 domain subjects will be offered in CUET 2023.
  • Section III – This section will include the General Test. The General test will include topics such as mental ability, General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Logical and Analytical Reasoning, Reasoning, Basic Arithmetics, etc. The candidates will have to answer 60 out of 75 questions in this section. This section is not usually very difficult to solve. The exact syllabus may be changing each year. However, certain basic topics do not change and remain the same.

Selection Strategy for Domain-Specific Subjects in CUET 2023

In total, you can only take 9 tests for CUET. Moreover, there are two possible combinations. Also, the candidates have flexibility in choosing the number of languages and the number of domain subjects.

  • From Section I, you can take 2 languages. In Section II, you can choose a maximum of 6 domain subjects. Moreover, in Section III, you can choose the General Test.

Depending on the domain subjects you choose, the preparation you do will vary depending. However, there are some fundamental things that a candidate must do in order to prepare well for their domain subjects.

The most difficult part of the CUET examination is the domain subjects. Therefore, the candidates must know the specific syllabus for the domain subjects that they have chosen. The syllabus will be based on their Class 12th subjects only especially those that have been included in their NCERT or equivalent textbooks.

The candidates must list down the complete syllabus as the initial step in preparing for their domain subjects. They must complete the topics in increasing trend of difficulty. Thus, they must focus on finishing the easier topics that they are confident in at the beginning of their preparation. They must then move to more difficult topics.

For a basic understanding, students must go through their standard NCERT subject books. In order to make their foundation strong, they must thoroughly read through their NCERT textbooks. After reading the NCERT textbooks, they will find all the topics essentially covered and thus, they can jump onto more advanced levels that are offered in other books.

In order to evaluate your readiness in the domain subjects you have chosen, you must solve the question papers of the previous year and attend mock tests.
