Government College Kasaragod was established in 1957. The College is accredited by NAAC with an A Grade and has secured All India Rank 83 by NIRF 2020. It is affiliated with Kannur University. Presently, the college offers 14 undergraduate courses, 7 postgraduate courses and 5 Ph.D. programmes.

Courses offered by Government College Kasaragod at the Postgraduate Level:
Eligible for candidates having passed Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in the relevant stream.
- M.A. (Arabic/ Economics/ English/ Kannada)
- M.Sc. (Chemistry/ Geology/ Mathematics/ Computational and Nano Sciences/ Zoology)
- Apart from the above courses, Ph.D. is offered in Chemistry, Geology, Kannada, Statistics and Zoology for candidates who have passed a Master’s degree in the relevant stream.
College Facilities :
- The College is placed on an expanse of 30.56 acres. The College is equipped with a General Library which provides the students with a number of resources in print such as books, periodicals, newspapers along with various e-resources such as e-books, e-journals and more.
- The Computer Laboratory is equipped in the campus of Government College Kasaragod where computer science students utilize it for the subject learning and computer awareness programme is conducted during leisure hours. It is ensured that all the students of the College gain a certain level of computer proficiency before their academic period is completed.
- Government College Kasaragod provides Hospital facilities. A Medical Centre functions in front of the college which extends service for the students and staff. The bill for the medical care of the student is cleared by PTA if the treatment records are reported officially.
- Staff quarters are constructed to accommodate teachers appointed from far off places. Presently, 32 staff quarters are available.
- Hostel accommodation is provided for both boys and girls separately. Nearly 100 students are accommodated in each of the hostels. A playground is available in front of the boys\’ hostel for sports and exercise.
- A canteen is present on the college campus. Food and beverages are sold at subsidised rates which are healthy, hygienic and delicious.
Co Curricural Activities :
- Indoor and outdoor facilities are provided for sports activities and Training is given in sports and games for those students who are interested. Students also take part in other activities such as the National Cadet Corps and National Service Scheme. Literary and cultural competitions are conducted every year.
- The Tourism Club conducts meetings and discussions to promote ecotourism. Participation in Environmental awareness campaign, minimization of the use of plastic on the campus, distribution of pamphlets to highlight the tourist spots in the district and arrangement of nature study camps are the activities conducted in this club.
- The Women Empowerment Cell is established to facilitate the empowerment of Women. Legal Awareness classes are conducted for undergraduate girl students.
Scholarships :
- Students of Government College Kasaragod can avail themselves of various scholarships like National Merit scholarship, University Merit scholarship and Proficiency prizes declared based on academic performances by PTA. The Poor Students Aid Fund is distributed to needy students. A permanent fund is constituted for students hailing from poor background under the name Vidyanidhi.
- The Student counselling centre of Government College Kasaragod works on resolving the personal, academic and familial problems of the students with the help of a Counsellor.
Placement Cell :
The Placement Cell of the college helps the students to get good placements by conducting awareness classes on placement opportunities and the job market. Companies are invited for conducting campus interviews and students are also guided to get placements in Government and private sectors.
