The CBSE chairperson has stated that the board will soon issue directions for the adoption of a new academic system of education.
In line with the recommendations of NEP 2020, the CBSE will be shifting towards the 5+3+3+4 structure. The board will soon issue a direction to all its affiliated schools to make provisions for a migration to the proposed new structure.
The CBSE chairperson has stated that the board will shift from the upcoming academic session onwards. CBSE will also initiate the creation of a teacher registry, student registry and school registry to track the growth of these resources.
The CBSE chief stated that one of the salient features of NEP is the inclusion of 3- to 6-year-old children in formal education. Several CBSE schools are already into younger children’s education through pre-nurseries and preparatory schools. Now, this will be brought under the formal education system.
Children’s education is divided into four stages in this new framework. The first is the foundational stage followed by the preparatory and middle. This will be followed by the secondary stage. The new divisions are in line with the kind of cognitive development stages.
Under the NEP, the system of board examinations will be changed. Therefore, the need for coaching classes will be removed. Through this, during a school year, all the students will be allowed to take boards on two occasions. The main examination is compulsory for all students. However, the improvement exam will be optional.
