- The state government of Telangana has decided to establish a medical college in Godavarikhani that will be operated in a joint partnership of the State Government and Singareni Collieries Company Limited from the academic year 2022-2023.
- A sum of Rs.500 crore has been released to set up the college. The counselling process to admit 150 MBBS students will begin from September 2022 by which one block of the college will be ready. The state government had submitted applications to NMC to set up medical colleges in 8 places in Telangana.
- Along with the medical college, an ICU facility along with an 85-bed building is being constructed in the Godavarikhani hospital premises. The College is in need of 50 faculty members for which the recruitment process is in progress.
- 18 senior residence doctors, three assistant professors, four professors and four senior professors have joined duties. A team from the NMC will be visiting the medical college in the coming month for inspection.
