DU is offering a paid internship scheme which received over 4000 applications

In September, Delhi University offered the Vice-Chancellor Internship Scheme. This internship mainly focuses to impart training to students on soft and hard skills. This internship will integrate experiential learning with cognitive knowledge.

More than 3,800 applications were received by the Delhi University from UG and PG students. However, this internship offers only 110 vacancies. This is a paid internship scheme. The information was released by a senior official from the University.

Interviews are conducted by the university to shortlist the candidates. The list of selected students will be released within a week. The Dean of Students Wefare stated that they had received over 3,800 applications for 110 vacancies under this paid internship scheme.

The responsibility to facilitate the internship program at the Delhi University has been entrusted to the office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW). The process of interview is underway. This process is expected to be concluded by Tuesday. The list of students selected will be taken out within a week. The internship will begin the next day itself.

Under the Vice-Chancellor Internship Scheme, there would be two kinds of internships namely regular internship and a summer internship.

TOTAL INTERNSHIP VACANCIES

The total proposed number of interns is 200 in both categories. However, it is 110 vacancies across departments this year. After review and recommendation, the number of interns may periodically be changed by the Dean of Students\’ Welfare. Moreover, this will be followed by the approval of the Vice Chancellor.

Moreover, 110 vacancies are offered across all departments this year. The selection of students will be on the basis of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) scores and interviews. Based on their skills and the requirements of the department, the students will be assigned to the department.

STIPEND FOR THE INTERNSHIP

For instance, the Department of Botany has requested for students from a science background. A stipend of Rs 5,000 per month will be offered to the regular intern. Moreover, a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month will be offered to the summer intern.

Moreover, the stiped will be enhanced each financial year by five per cent. At the end of the internship tenure, the intern will receive a certificate from the Dean of Students\’ Welfare. Also, the intern will also receive an appraisal report from the concerned employing department, institutes and centres.

However, a student can avail the Vice-Chancellor Internship Scheme only once during the course of their study at the University of Delhi. The document mentioned that under any circumstances, the maximum period of an internship shall not be more than six months from the time of joining.

Registration shall be done online for interested applicants. Moreover, the application that is duly submitted will be valid for a period for a maximum of six months.
