Bhairab Ganguly College was established in 1968. It is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with a Grade A and a CGPA of 3.01 on a four-point scale. It is affiliated with the West Bengal State University.

College Facilities :

The campus is located on an expanse of 8.33 acres. The Central Library of the Bhairab Ganguly College is automated and is one of the most modern technical libraries under the affiliated University. It consists of several books, journals, and publications. It is equipped with modern IT applications along with a separate reading room for faculty and students. The Library also extends services such as Circulation, Reference, Reprography, Internet, E-journal, OPAC, Email, Question Bank, etc.

The College provides research facilities for the staff and students with sophisticated equipment which help them to carry out globally competitive R & D in basic and applied sciences. The Thrust areas for research include Nanoscience and Material Science, Polymer Science, Biopolymers, Soft matter, Tissue engineering, Microbiology, Plant Tissue Culture, Molecular Biology.

Physical Science Departments consist of laboratories to help the students in their practical work. Life Science Departments maintain stock of specimens, charts, models, etc., for demonstration in the class and the fieldwork.

The college has set up a medical unit for the students which is equipped with a bed, stretcher, wheelchair, first aid box, etc. An Allopathy and a Homeopathy doctor often visit the unit for a medical inspection.

Co-curricular activities :

A playground is facilitated for the students to play sports like football, cricket, volleyball, athletics, kho-kho, kabaddi, javelin-throw, etc. The College consists of an indoor sports complex with modern facilities for the students to play games such as Badminton, Table tennis, etc. The College also consists of an air-conditioned, 12-stationed gymnasium to increase the physical agility of the students under careful guidance. The college also has an 8 lane Swimming Pool.

A garden is located on the campus with the aim of attracting and nurturing butterflies in order to preserve biodiversity within its limited range. It also has a special garden to produce fruits and vegetables thereby ensuring the stability of the eco-system. In addition to this, a Medicinal Garden with 28 varieties of herbal plants and more than 60 varieties of medicinal plants is present on the campus. A Meteorological Observatory is set up for the postgraduate students of Geography who are specializing in Climatology.

Short term courses offered in the college :

In order to enhance various skills of the students, the College has designed different short-term courses, value-added courses, etc., with an objective to provide additional learner’s centric graded skill-oriented technical training thereby improving the employability skill of the students.

The College also conducts computer training courses on its campus to facilitate the students to enrich their computer background and make them competent enough in the job market.

Students of Bhairab Ganguly College take part in various co-curricular and extracurricular activities such as the National Service Scheme, National Cadet Corps, Quiz and Debating events, Music, Dance, Drama and many more.

Bhairab Ganguly College has extended cooperation and ensured special facilities for differently-abled to minimize their difficulties and challenges such as Tuition fee waived, Ramp Facility and Wheelchair, Brail Key-board, Disabled Friendly Toilet, Library staff Assistance to access required books, Vehicles are arranged to reach the Examination centre and many more.

Financial Assistance :

The college provides financial assistance to students who are economically backward in the form of full or partial concession in fees. Other help is also available for deserving poor, meritorious and regular students from the Students’ Welfare fund.

Placement Cell :

The placement cell of Bhairab Ganguly College provides guidance regarding placement drives to the students organized by different companies in collaboration with the college so that students can be recruited from various fields.
