- The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade administers long-term Australian Awards Scholarships to contribute to the development needs of Australia’s partner countries in line with regional and bilateral agreements.
- Opportunities are provided for people from developing countries to undertake full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study at Australian Universities and Technical and Further Education Institutions. The opportunities provided are used to develop the skills and knowledge of individuals to contribute to the development and drive change in their own countries.
- The Scholarship is awarded for the minimum period necessary to complete the academic program specified by the Australian Higher Education institution which includes full tuition fees, return air travel-payment of a single return, economy class airfare to and from Australia, establishment allowance, contribution to living expenses, introductory academic program, supplementary and academic support, etc.
- Applicants must sign a contract with the Commonwealth of Australia declaring that they will comply with the conditions of the scholarship and the scholars are required to leave Australia for a minimum period of two years after completing their scholarship. If the scholar fails this condition, he/she will incur a debt for the total accrued cost of their scholarship.
